Manwe by Nahar-Doa Manwe by Nahar-Doa
''Manwe and melkor are brothers in Iluvatar's mind. At the beginning, the most powerful ainu was Melkor who had came to the earth. But Manwe is favourite child of ERU. Manwe is Lord of Arda and Aratar. His happiness in the wind and clouds. He loves all the fastest birds and the power of the wings. Manwe lives with lady of the stars; Varda. They lived in Valinor. They rost in Oiolosse, top of the Taniquetil.. The highest mountain of the world. İf Varda with him, Manwe sees behind the fogs, darkness and deep of the sea...''

I illustrated him again. You can see other drawing in here : [link]

I look again and again, and decided to ask a question. Would you think of giving more light on the face of manwe while coloring. Here, he looks more serious and angry about a coming war. I also wonder his posture while he is quiet, calm.. :)) would you think of it? Here his face gives me the idea (which i loved the feeling) that he has some dark thoughts about sth which really disturbs him.

I will think about that when I illustrate him again. :) next time, I will work on bigger sizes. I couldn't do much on A4.

You really have something going here in terms of presentation method with your Valar series. I especially like the disembodied intertwining form they have. The suggested birds are also pretty great! I would love to see them in color :D too!! :D

Well, I was thinking about that too. If everyone wants to see them with colours, I will do what I can. But I dont know how to do it yet. With oil colours or watercolours or marker pencils...which one do you prefer?

You know, it wouldn't be a bad idea to experiment with all of them! I know it sounds dreary but I've been working on some commissioned portraits and did a few experiments with digital painting and pencil before I decided on using a specific watercolor technique. The process was fun and mostly involved thumbnail experiments. The vision changes radically with each medium used. Watercolor might make them very detailed or very ethereal. Oil can be very polished or vibrantly rustic. Hmm... Maybe it depends on the specific character and what you're comfortable with as well as your vision. With your talent I think they will look amazing in almost any medium! :)

I guess I can handle watercolours with these drawings. I mean I got used to illustrate with marker but I dont think marker is good choise for Valar drawings. yea yeah definitely watercolour. :)

Splendid and so detailed! Such a great contrast with Melkor! The light surrounding him is marvelous and I LOVE the eagles shapes behind him such a fantastic idea!
You're definitly the artist who depicted Ainur with the greatest talent!
